Are You Killing Your Business Before It Even Starts

A trend that can kill your business before it even begins. A trend that will set you up for ultimate failure without you even knowing it. A trend that is so discreet and subversive that you may not even know it is happening to you.

As you can probably imagine I deal with a lot of new people coming into the industry.

I come in contact with all kinds and from all backgrounds and so I get to see a larger scope of what is going on in the industry than most. In addition well here is what I have noticed. Many of the people that come to me for advice will either send me an email or give me a call and they will start out by saying . . .”I don’t have a lot of money or time but I really want to make my network marketing business work. So I want you to show me exactly how to do this business without having to spend any money or devote a significant amount of time because I don’t have either.”

Now I do not mind helping anyone get their business going but when I hear or read this from a newbie I silently shake my head in disappointment. I am not disappointed because these people do not have money or time for their business but rather because of their mindset from the outset.

These people whether they know it or not are disqualifying themselves away from success. They are approaching their business and me as if they “could” have a winning lottery ticket. They bought in and now they are waiting to cash in. Too much hope and not enough confidence.

When you approach your business from the initial standpoint of what you do not have you are working from the wrong paradigm. In essence what this paradigm say is . . .”I hope this works so tell me exactly what to do and I’ll do it as long as it doesn’t take much money or time and if doesn’t work in X amount of time I’m going to quit because IT obviously doesn’t work.” This is WRONG!

However I understand why people unknowingly think this way. I get emails just like everyone else and most of them say”Join this business under me and I’ll build your down line for you.” As if just getting in is going to make you money. Sure for the marketer that sends out these messages they will probably get quite a few people to join their business because they are playing on our inherent laziness but think about this approach long term.

Say you get in a business with someone with this approach and they do put lots of people under you in your business. Why are those people below you? They are all WAITING for the initial person to put more people under them.

They may stick around for a while but it is highly unlikely that many of them will ever take any action themselves. Further for the marketer themselves they are not growing a down line of people wanting to create freedom for themselves rather they are actually attracting people that are waiting for the marketer to do it all for them.

Take it from me that is not the type of team you want to attract if you are looking at this business with a longterm perspective. With this message pervading the market I can see why so many unsuspecting people buy into it and think that someone else doing everything for them without them really putting in personal time or money is going to work. It is lazy and it can create some initial excitement but that is about it.

But back to the point at hand . . .When you approach your business with the above mentioned perspective what you don’t have or can’t do you are setting yourself up for failure and you are limiting your chance of success.

I do not care if you do not have a dollar to your name do not treat your business as if you do not have a dime or any time. If you run your business from a poverty standpoint it will pay you like bankrupt business.

Can you make money in network marketing with very little time or money? Yes but you have to think of your business from an abundant standpoint.

Personally I did not have much money or time when I began marketing my business but I never thought about it as being a disadvantage. Instead I thought how could I create the money and time that I will need to create high levels of success. The resources you need for success are out there whether you have them immediately or not. It is your job first to realize this and then to creatively find ways to tap into them.

What we teach on my team is how to take advantage of this and how to make it work for us as individuals! This is the reason we have the success we do! It is not left to chance!

Do not kill your business before it even begins by disqualifying yourself from success.

Are You Failing In Network Marketing? Should You Quit?

The word “quit” is unheard of to most highly motivated people. Yet there are times when quitting is a wiser strategy than continuing to devote your valuable time and energy to a nowin situation.

Consider quitting when your efforts are producing fewer and fewer positive results. You have to recognize the signs of a nowin situation so that you can decide whether or not to persist.

  • Are you burning money on tons of company literature and promotional materials? What has this done for you?
  • Have you burned through your list of friends and family? Are they walking wide circles around you now?
  • How many people have you added to your network marketingbusiness? Are they still there?
  • Do you call your upline and “3 Way” with him or her when a potential client has a question? Shouldn’t you be answering these questions yourself?
  • Are you an “employee” of your upline? I thought you wanted to be in business for yourself!

Even if you are investing enormous amounts of energy into your business it is almost impossible to salvage a losing situation. The best strategy is to apply your energy to more rewarding activities…in other words quit.

The more time you spend fighting the odds the more costly your efforts become. The sooner you acknowledge the reality of your situation the better you are able to cut your losses.

I know you are thinking that you’ve already put too much time and energy into your “proven plan” to quit now but face it if it hasn’t worked so far what makes you think it will suddenly all fall into place?

Now I’m not saying to quit your network marketing business what I am saying is to quit using methods that are not helping it grow.

Habit and inertia are powerful forces that keep you in your old familiar rut. We often regard quitting as a sign of immaturity and weakness. Adults are expected to set goals and work hard to achieve them. Are you remaining in a nowin situation because you are afraid of what others might think? It takes more maturity and strength to admit that things aren’t going so well and it’s time to make a change.

Sometimes we have to lose in order to win. Although failure is unpleasant we can learn more from our failures than our successes. We can get something positive out of a bad situation by looking carefully at what went wrong and avoid making the same mistakes again. You can build on failure and move on to future success by quitting while you are ahead.

So take that first step. Recognize what isn’t working and make the decision to move forward and make the necessary changes. You can be successful if you have the right tools in your hands.

Are You Dream-busting Or Dream-building?

The thing that will dry up your dreams faster than anything is a fourteenletter word. You can take the “teen” off and think of it as a fourletter word.

It certainly causes as much grief as most fourletter words. The word is…

Procrastination.

Oh we laugh about it as if it’s a minor fault one that causes some late fines at the library or putting off that diet one more day but it’s really much more harmful than that.

Perhaps you remember from high school or college English this poem by famous American poet novelist columnist and playwright Langston Hughes.

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up

ike a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over

like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags

like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

Whatever happens to a dream deferred is not a good thing. And what happens to us when we forget about our dreams?

We’re not being true to ourselves we’re not living our lives to the fullest and the very least we and others who would benefit are missing out.

The “dream deferred” Hughes wrote about during the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920′s may have been as much about society destroying dreams as an inside job but for most people today the deferment of dreams comes from procrastination and procrastination comes from fear. Now there’s a real fourletter word for you that is another dream destroyer.

Do you have dreams you’ve put off?

I know I did. I was caught on the treadmill of a job that seemed to consume me. Then my wife Ann began asking questions. Questions like…

If we continue doing what we are doing where we will be a year from now? 5 years now? In our 60′s?

The images were frightening.

We made up our minds that we would no longer put off our dreams.

It meant working at our new network marketing business after putting in 8 hours or more at our jobs but before we knew it we no longer needed the jobs and…

We had built the largest international business in the history of the company we were with before our current company. That means many many other people benefited.

After only 3 years with our current company we have more than 48000 team members in more than 25 countries. Our income has in these 3 years surpassed what we made with the other company which is/was a great company.

Where will you be next year if continue doing what you are doing now?

Where will you be 5 years from now if you continue doing what you are doing now?

Where will you be when you’re 65 or older if you’ve already hit there if you continue doing what you are doing now?

Are you today where you hoped to be when you dreamt of your future?

Have you deferred your dreams until they are dried up?

Isn’t it time to revive them?

I’d like you to do that. Revive your dreams. Imagine how you will feel when they become reality.

Do you like the feeling?

Are you ready to make some changes?

Because you can’t achieve a different outcome by doing the thing.

Napoleon Hill another great writer and the author of the Book “Think and Grow Rich” said this about bout the “P” word.

“The principle of concentration is the medium by which procrastination is overcome. The same principle is the foundation upon which both selfconfidence and selfesteemare predicated…”

Concentrate focus on your goals and you’ve made a start.

You’ll be amazed at how fast things can change when you do so.

So let me end this by saying if you’re serious about building your dreams and holding on to them…then you need to BELIEVE…and never let anyone steal your dreams!
